Dear Prince of Peace Family and Friends,

Last Sunday morning as I was preparing for worship, I came across this Bible verse: Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? What this told me was don’t live in fear and remember who’s in charge.

With the ever-changing information and events in relation to the Coronavirus, the church council and I have agreed to cancel the all of the worship services and events through March 29th.  This is following the latest CDC guidelines.  The office will be closed throughout this time; however, we will be checking phone and email messages daily.  If you have needs, we will try to help as much as we can and as quickly as we can.

We are encouraged to follow the social distancing recommendations; however, I believe it’s not good to have social isolation. Please reach out to other members during this time by phone, email or even a quick text. Our Facebook page is a great place to get up-to date information on the church and maybe a few uplifting posts. If you are not part of the Facebook group, please visit https://www.facebook.com/Prince-of-Peace-Lutheran-Church-125896233158/.  We are hoping to have the Wednesday and Sunday sermons on our page. Our website will also be kept current at https://www.princeofpeacecasper.org/

Back in Epiphany, Jesus said we are the light of the world.  During this time, I encourage you to be that light to others. If you can help someone, especially those who are elderly, in the high-risk group, or unable to shop for themselves, please do so. Or contact the church, and we may be able to assist.

Another important thing you can do is pray. Pray for an end to this worldwide crisis. Pray for those who are ill, grieving, healthcare workers and leaders. Pray for patience, understanding, and a spirit of cooperation.

I believe we will get back to normal soon. Remember to be a good citizen and try to be for safe others. Remember who’s in charge (God), that you belong to Christ in faith and baptism, and don’t live in fear.

God’s Peace Be With You,
Pastor Mike

March 17, 2020

As all of you know, growing concerns with COVID-19 has recently prompted local government and organizations to suspend operations and activities to help protect the general public from this spreading virus.

In the interest of protecting our congregation, we have made the difficult decision to suspend all services and activities here at Prince of Peace. This will include but is not limited to Wednesday Lenten service and regular Sunday service. While we will not be holding services at the church, we will still be working to keep you all informed and looking out for our church family. It is in these times of need that our fellowship grows beyond social interaction & snacks following Sunday worship. If you find yourself in need for anything during this unprecedented time, please let us know.

Our church family is strong and is always willing to lend a hand when needed. As businesses and government suspend services, there will be those of us that may feel an unexpected financial burden. Financially, the church is in a good place right now. However, with suspended services and continued financial obligations, should these conditions persist, I fear that it will begin to weigh heavily on our church as well.

I ask that you keep those around you, your families, and the church in your hearts and prayers. Continue to help those around you when you can and if you find yourself in need, please let us know.

Thank you,

Ian Alvstad

Church Council President
